How to Choose the Best Car

So you decided to buy a new car! That’s really exciting! It’s going to be a lot of fun driving a new car, especially if your current car is giving you trouble. But how will you choose which car to buy?

Buying a new car involves two important steps:

  • Deciding which car to buy;
  • Deciding where to buy the car.

In this article, I focus on how to choose the best car — a car you will enjoy, a car that will serve you well. In a forthcoming article, I will discuss where to buy your car for the best price. Don’t overpay for your car!

The best cars

Well — that’s an obvious question — which car is the best car? How about buying an exotic car? Are you planning to buy an exotic car, one of those cars you see in high-budget movies? It would definitely be a lot of fun to drive a car like James Bond or Batman. Certainly, all eyes will turn to you, as you drive your car through the streets. But let me tell you: you probably won’t enjoy an exotic car for long. Exotic cars, despite of what many believe, are not durable and they are not safe. And repairing an exotic car — and you are going to have quite a few repairs — is expensive; it’s difficult to get replacement parts, and it’s difficult to find qualified mechanics. More often than not, replacement parts have to be shipped from afar, placing your car out-of-service for days or more. No, I don’t recommend buying an exotic car.

So which IS the best car?

Every manufacturer makes some models of cars that are fast and fun to drive. So “fast and fun to drive” is not an uncommon feature. There are two really important qualities that make a best car:

  • Safety
  • Reliability and Durability

Among safe, reliable, and durable cars, you can definitely find cars that are fast and fun to drive, if you are interested.

Safety means that, even in the case of an accident, the car is designed and built to protect you and your passengers. It also means that the car is designed and built to be exceptionally strong and reliable, so there are no mechanical failures contributing to accidents. Safety first, as they say!

Durability and reliability mean that the car won’t be spending much time in the repair shop, so you can enjoy your car day after day after day. It also means that you won’t have to spend money on repairs (which are quite expensive, as you know). What’s more, a reliable and durable car will last you for many years, so you won’t need to spend money on a new car.
